Musings of an Ukraine Traveler

Peace Corps HIV/AIDS First Annual Conference

November 6-9, 2003

David Johnson and Scott Lasher, Group 24, new members of the PC HIV/AIDS working group prepare a session on sensitivity right before 3 persons living with HIV spoke to us.

One of my greatest pleasures were the Camp Rah-Rah graduates who were active at the conference. Here Anna Kirvas prepares her section of Sound Body, Sound Mind, a course developed for presentation in English, Ukrainian and Russian.

Another Rah-Rah graduate, Karina Makarenko wowed them with her presentation on gender issues.

Who could forget Yula Tsrysova's smile at Rah Rah. She didn't present, but she juggled classes and conference to learn all she could.

Devon McGuinness, group 24,  and her counterpart, Tanya Veretennikova relax at breakfast at PIGY. Most PCVs brought a counterpart.

Our tasks were to prepare an action plan and lesson plans to promote  good sexual health  to use in our communities. Here Tanya and Devon demonstrate their lesson. All lessons will be typed and distributed to the conference participants.
