Musings of an Ukraine Traveler

Holiday Season 2004: Thanksgiving

The holiday season really began when Wini got to stay in Ukraine--Kyiv and moved into her "penthouse apartment with a stove, a shower and hot running water.

Her nice living room serves as her bedroom, but Wini doesn't care because it is warm!

It really warmed up  Thanksgiving week so Rah was able to enjoy the open kitchen window while I baked a pie!

Since everyone worked on Thanksgiving Day, I invited Therese, Korostyshiv, and Mary and Steven from Zhytomyr for dinner. No turkey, but I did have baked chicken, mashed potatoes and of course pie. The table cloth, a birthday gift is packed for me to bring home.

Wini and I headed for Vinnytsia for a post Thanksgiving dinner with Alice. To prepare for Christmas Alice got us all in the moos with making ornaments.

Timber (from Edmond Oklahoma) and Kelly whipped up delightful creations and Wini made her own miniature Christmas tree.

Alice and Wini are pleased with the dinner setting and our "cuisine."

The Tak Girls! Since PCVs had to maintain political neutrality in public during the elections and the Orange Revolution, we could only sport our shirts inside!
