Adventures of a returned traveller

Home to Oklahoma

After 27 months Peace Corps service in Ukraine, I returned home to Idaho. My first big purchase was a car. This Suzuki will have to last me a long, long time.

After buying the car and settling in my home, I flew to Oklahoma the last two weeks of June to visit my family. The first place my mom and sister Carol took me was a vinyard and winery near my hometown. What a surprise.

The interior of the winery snuggled in the Oklahoma hills  is  colorful, clean and used for parties, weddings etc.

The owner serves up a tasting of any of their over 40 wines for as long as you can stand up. My sister, Carol,  is delighted by the award winning chardonnay.

On Sunday after my arrival, friends and family gathered at my daughter, Delaine's house, to celebrate her 33rd birthday. My mom, my sister Claudia and Claire, Joyce's granddaughter were actually able to sit outside. Oklahoma weather was quite mild while I was there.

My brother-in-law, Ken and my friend, Jim, both enjoyed sitting on the patio and getting involved with playing with the kids.

Nicholas, Charlotte's son, practiced all morning on his roping on the wooden cow. You can see the barn, stables and dog pen in the back ground.

Ken and Jim had to get their swings in on the practice cow too. Not bad for two old guys!
